When editing HTML it's easy to make mistakes. This free tool provides a simple way to fix these mistakes automatically and tidy up sloppy editing into nicely layed out markup? It also works great on the atrociously hard to read markup generated by specialized HTML editors and conversion tools, and can help you identify where you need to pay further attention on making your pages more accessible to people with disabilities.

Tidy is able to fix up a wide range of problems and to bring to your attention things that you need to work on yourself. Each item found is listed with the line number and column so that you can see where the problem lies in your markup. Tidy won't generate a cleaned up version when there are problems that it can't be sure of how to handle.

This appears to be quite a good offline validator and there are binaries for just about any operating system (Windows, Unix, Mac etc).

My free powerful but easy to use multiplatform html preprocessor. Includes external files. Imports SQL (and delimited text files). Basically it's a super SSI, while not generally used server based PPWIZARD can do virtually anything SSI can plus heaps more and do it better.

Recently rated 4 stars at ZDNet.

Useful for automated web site development and ensuring a common look and feel. Supports extremely powerful macros and conditional compilation. Has #define, #include, #import, #if, #AsIs, #AutoTag and many other commands. Useful for Text to HTML processing. Many options. Has CGI mode. Example of if test is "#if left(GetEnv("ENVVAR"), 4) = 'ASDF'". Supports all Windows versions, OS/2, unix and DOS and can actually preprocess any text file types (rexx, Java, Javascript, VBScript, ASP etc).

This page was automatically created from Windows internet shortcuts (or favorites) created with IE or Netscape (OS/2 WPS URLs can also be imported). You can comment any link or category and just about anything can be changed (links don't even need to be in tables). PPWIZARD, a free tool for Windows, Mac OS X, Unix or OS/2 built these pages using this source code .

All URLs are checked periodically using the my free URL validation tool (for Windows and OS/2). This ensures that very few if any links point to moved pages or return 404 errors etc.
