BUG: MSIEXEC.EXE - Silent Mode Displays Dialog on Command Line Error and Wrong Return Code

In silent mode the program should be silent.... An event log message and a non zero return code should be set.

The two bugs:

  1. A non-silent Dialog is displayed halting execution and there is no reader to read it and in any case as command line or the error is not indicated its useless even when a "normal" install.
  2. A return code of 0 is returned. Can't MS understand the need for valid return codes? The concept is not that complicated...
