How To Use This Documentation |
The Windows compiled help documentation has a table of contents, an index and can be searched.
Note that "under the covers" its really just IE, so the normal hot keys generally function, so for example "CTRL+F" will search within a page of documentation.
The Table of Contents |
If you know where the item is logically arranged then you can navigate to the correct page using the table of contents.
In the following example I have navigated to the "Component" commands documentation.
If you find a page in the index or via a search you can find the location in the table of contents by clickling on the "locate" button. This is very handy when you might wish to see related documentation.
The Index Facility |
In the following example I type "regist" to locate the "registry commands" documentation (it shows all items starting with "regist", I could keep typing to get closer or click on the item):
The Search Facility |
This allows you to search for pages of documentation that match your criteria, within a page you would use the normal IE "CTRL+F" hotkey.
The searches can use "and", "or", "near" etc but if searching for words it might be safest to always use "*" for example "word*" will match on "word" and "words", for the maximum number of hits you could search for "*word*".
You can also enclose phrases in double quotes such as "The Media table has no entries" (the double quotes are part of the search).
Notice the three check boxes on the bottom left:
The Favourites Facility |
You can save locations you go to all the time.
