From what I have read it creates 'mymovies.xml' files and graphics in movie folder but may also centralise and sync this. |

THis is an excellent (but not without flaws) program which creates/reads XML formatted ".nfo" files which it creates in the moview directory, there is no central database which means that there is no issues copying movie directories around etc. XBMC developers have added the ability to include a "movie.nfo" and "movie.tbn" file alongside each movie. the .nfo file contains detailed information with regards to each movie about the cast, plot, actors, dates, movie ratings and much more. the .tbn file is an image file that contains the movies main thumbnail. (Often Cover art). Media Companion works by scanning selected folders for these ".nfo" files and adding them to the library. If it finds such a file it adds it to the programs movie list ready for you to browse at your leisure. If you don't have any ".nfo" files for your movie folders then it can automatically scan each directory you have for movies then automatically create an ".nfo" file for each movie found. It then searches IMDB to get all the movie details and saves them alongside the movie file, along with the thumbnail. This benefits XBMC users since it is a much easier and faster process than using the XBMC built in scraper, and it creates a more permanent library of your files since to loose the ".nfo" file stored next to your movie you will usually have lost the movie file also. When Updating the library within XBMC if such ".nfo" files exist then that information is used rather than trying to scrape from the internet. (A slow and laborious process on XBMC if you have a large movie collection.

This page was automatically created from Windows internet shortcuts (or favorites) created with IE or Netscape (OS/2 WPS URLs can also be imported). You can comment any link or category and just about anything can be changed (links don't even need to be in tables). PPWIZARD, a free tool for Windows, Mac OS X, Unix or OS/2 built these pages using this source code .
All URLs are checked periodically using the my free URL validation tool (for Windows and OS/2). This ensures that very few if any links point to moved pages or return 404 errors etc.
